Pirate Love on Vespas by pirate-trish Pirate Love on Vespas by pirate-trish
So I had a painting class with George Pratt (I'm sure everyone is falling all over themselves because they know who he is right?) and he put me through a wringer of learning to paint. I got into computer coloring because I paint like a deranged 3 year old. Well, I learned a lot. This one was done using the Barron Storey technique which meant I pasted things in added stuff used 90 different materials and generally made a huge mess. Why Pirates? Why Vespas? I love them. just Love them. Now as a print!

Yeah pirates and Vespas are cool... but not as cool as screentones!!!!! Real not-by-a-computer screentones! George Pratt is a great painter, he taught at the school i went to, but not while I was there  I only got teased by his stuff around and teachers who knew him. anyway.. I'm jealous. Great pic too, definitley a fav. And I hope you do more traditional media stuff, some of us old-timers like it! Love the skull on her hat.

So where were you that Pratt was teaching, if it's okay to ask?

it was at SCAD (savannah college of art and design) he was still working on his comic Netsuke (which i felt was ruint by the super clean computer wordballoons but hey... noone asks me) and he was a lot of agony and fun lol! for example, we had to do a cover illo "to size" and i did mine... AT size.... and there was unrest amongst the natives... but learned a lot and had a lot of fun. he can play guitar! it was a little hippie and fun.

That'a amazing! It doesn't even look digital at first site. Hell it looks like one of the most quirky mixed mediums ever. It's amazing, the detail and the concept.
It's a sin not to love pirates.

hahaha it's nto digital at all except for the text on the bottom. The actual artwork is mixed media, watercolor, colored pencils, gouache, acrylic, stickers, screentone, matte medium, you name it I slapped it on there.
